Welcome

Established in 1980, College Park Family Care Center has been uniting family physicians in order to provide quality health care in a caring Christian environment.

Physicians

The physicians at College Park Family Care Center are specialists board certified in family practice. This is a three-year post-medical school program that includes training in primary care focusing on internal medicine, pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology. Family practice physicians provide comprehensive health care and treat patients of all ages. They coordinate overall care for individual family members, including internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, minor surgery, orthopedics, health maintenance and wellness counseling.

In most cases, your family physician will directly provide the care you or your family needs. However, when a medical problem is beyond your physician's scope of training or expertise, he or she may refer you to a specialist. In either case, your family physician will manage the care the specialist provides, as well as your other medical needs.

Physicians at College Park Family Care Center have completed four years of undergraduate school, four years of medical school and an additional three-year residency program with special training in the discipline of family practice. Each physician is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice, which is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. The American Board of Family Practice requires its diplomats to complete 50 hours of continuing medical education each year and pass a formal written examination every seven years to demonstrate continued clinical competance. The American Board of Family Practice was the first clinical specialty board requiring its members to be re-certified in this manner.

Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners

To provide greater access and convenience in obtaining health care, College Park Family Care Center also employs certified physician assistants and nurse practitioners. PA's and NP's are health professionals licensed to practice medicine under physician supervision. They are trained in an accredited program and certified by a national certification commission. PA's and NP's perform a broad range of services, including taking medical histories, performing examinations, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses and determining treatments. The physician may delegate tasks to them, working as a team to provide more efficient, cost-effective medical care.
